Our Story
Our healing art is rooted in Lanna wisdom, passed down through many generations.
Ancient heritage from Lanna
In the ancient Lanna Kingdom, Hariphunchai (present-day Lamphun) more than two thousand years ago, close trade relations with China brought knowledge of healing practices and herbal medicine into the region. When villagers experienced illness, body aches and fatigue, local healers began using medicinal herbs together with a traditional therapy method. One technique used the feet to press along the body's energy lines or painful points, known as “Nuad Yiap Sen” (stepping massage along the energy lines).
The evolution of wisdom
Over time, this practice evolved into the use of special wooden tools crafted from naturally fallen hardwood trees. These woods were believed to possess unique natural energy and conductivity. The tools were then applied along the body's energy pathways as a form of therapeutic stimulation, similar to acupressure and line therapy.
Healing benefits
This method was believed to help relieve muscle tension, improve circulation, reduce numbness and pain in the legs and knees, and restore balance within the body.
Spiritual beliefs & respect for nature
People of that era also believed that large, ancient trees were sacred dwellings of guardian spirits. When disturbed, unusual natural phenomena such as lightning were thought to occur. Buddhist texts and local traditions often referred to these spiritual beliefs.
Sacred woods & traditional practices
Hardwood trees such as red wood, Pradu, Makha, Takian and golden teak were carefully selected and crafted into therapeutic tools. They were prepared through sacred rituals and combined with herbal healing. Ceremonies were often performed during the full moon, with prayers and blessings offered for the effectiveness and continuation of the healing art.
Preserving our heritage
We believe this traditional line-therapy wisdom is part of the valuable heritage of the Lanna people, passed down through generations over many centuries. Today we preserve and continue this knowledge so that future generations may continue to experience and appreciate the art of traditional Thai therapeutic healing.
